Looks like one of the most amazing and longest-running radio shows
on the planet, "On The Wire" (read the full history HERE), is about
to vanish off the airwaves
soon, due to the latest BBC budget cuts.
This is sadly just one
more step in the ongoing process of dropping
independent-minded quality in favour of the mediocre commercial rest
and not only a
BBC problem, but a worldwide phenomenon.
The future of OTW is still uncertain at this point, but hopefully
the mission will continue via the internet. Until then you should
absolutely check out the COMPLETE (!) recordings of the last 27 (!!)
years, over at archive.org. And then drop some feedback to Steve
Barker and the whole
crew. |

There are two excellent (and very funny) interviews up on
Unitedreggae.com, one with Solo Banton and one with disrupt. Apart
from getting a few good laughs and some insights you can also have
a wee gander at some pics of the newly-built Jahtari studio, which
finally deserves the name.

We hope you entered twentytwelve as smoothly as we did, it should
be a good one. Lots of niceness is in the tube - as always -
including a new Jahtarian Dubbers compilation, which is up next.
We also got heavily into building hardware music gear, synths and
simple
FX units DIY-style over the last year, so there's a whole
new world
of sound just waiting to be unleashed. But more on that
later...
